WESTERN LESVOS

Ride this unique experience in a blessed land with extensive brightness and scents of wild flowers and herbs. You will stay in a traditional guesthouse at medieval Eresos, birthplace of great poets, botanists and philosophers of antiquity.
Day 1
Transfer to Eresos after landing, welcome dinner under the moonlight.
Day 2

Our first ride is in the area surrounding Eresos. We'll take the rural road to the medieval monastery of Pitharion, climbing on a bush-bearing hill covered with yellow espartos on the roadsides. The view is majestic right before we turn to the spectacular sight of a dam! The water of river Vergias is gathered here, in the valley that nestled the monastery of Pitharion for centuries. Contributing to the formation of impressive waterfalls, water continues its way to the sea. As we pedal along the riverbank, we find ourselves in the fertile plain of Skala Eresou, abundant with olive groves, fruit trees and vegetables around the small village houses. End at Peristeryes for a nice swim. (13,5km)
Day 3 
Today we'll escape to Sigri, built 'at the end of the island' as the locals like to say. Indeed, this fortressed little fishing village is situated at the western end of Lesvos, remote and isolated by the rest of the land. The discovery of the Petrified Forest and the creation of the Natural History Museum there changed the fortune of local people as their village became famous worldwide. However, the magnificent rugged coastline, the idyllic coves, the long deserted sandy beaches, the fossil spread hills make all the way there an unforgettable experience!
Day 4 
Today we'll visit one the most beautiful areas of the island. We'll start from picturesque Anemotia and follow the way to Parakoila, making small stops on the way to enjoy the majestic nature. The island's third highest mountain, Profit Ilias (799m), is covered by an enormous forest, where a succession of thick and black pine trees, is completed with wild cedars, chestnut trees, oak trees and gigantic plane trees embraced by ivy, all standing on a colorful carpet of ferns, berries and the unique 'Rododendron', along streams and torrents. Traditional pick-nick, in Agia Dosia and on to Parakoila, famous for it's orange groves. (17km)
Day 5 
Starting from Vatousa, today, we're going for a nice ride, hopping from village to village. A series of traditional villages, hidden in the western highlands, were built up there during the Medieval period, out of fear for piratical invasions. Farmers and shepherds, use an intercourse network of rural roads meandering on the rugged mountains and the green valleys. The same way we're going to reach Agra, built on volcanic area and from there downhill to prehistoric Apothica, close to the mouth of the gulf of Kalloni.
Day 6 
On our last day, we're going to visit the beautiful Skalohori and on our bikes pedal by ancient Antisa and stop at the small harbor of Gavathas.
The stone built village has much sight to offer and the road we'll follow goes through a stream valley with intense cultivation of olive groves and rich water loving vegetation. At the cape Ovriocastro, the view from the ruins of the Byzantine fortress is beyond words. We continue through the fertile plain of Gavathas until we get to the harbor. A special nigh follows, with a lot of Greek dancing!
Day 7 
Transfer to the airport, flight times permiting, we might stop at Mytilini for sightseeing.
