WESTERN LESVOS

Your accommodation is in medieval Eresos on the western side of Lesvos, a land of wild beauty, full of contradictions, intense brightness, long history and geological miracles!
Day 1
Transfer to Eresos after landing, welcome dinner under the moonlight.
Day 2

Our first walk is from Eresos to the Petrified Forest. This unique monument of nature was created millions of years ago due to the intense volcanic activity of the area. The existed subtropical forest was trapped in tones of volcanic material, which allowed the perfect petrifaction of the trunks, under certain hydrothermal conditions. We'll visit just a part of the 150.000 acres Petrified Forest, in an area that is characterized as the only Geopark in Europe. All along the path, as well as in the Park, we'll see astonishing petrified Sequoias, still standing, pines and plane trees, all brightened by beautiful mineral colors. In Sigri, after a nice refreshing swim, we'll taste some delicious local recipes and we'll be guided in the Natural History Museum. (9km)
Day 3
On this splendor day, we'll join the PADI diving team, in a day of adventure and fun!
We'll take a little trip to the small isle across Skala Eresou, and letter in the day, to Hrousos, a nice and tranquil cove, where we can either swim in the crystal clear seawater, dive and take pictures of the under water world, for the best photo contest, or you can just relax and enjoy the sun on the deck of the ship. Whatever you choose to do, you will have an unforgettable day!
Day 4
Our first ride is in the area surrounding Eresos. We'll take the rural road to the medieval monastery of Pitharion, climbing on a bush-bearing hill covered with yellow espartos on the roadsides. The view is majestic right before we turn to the spectacular sight of a dam! The water of river Vergias is gathered here, in the valley that nestled the monastery of Pitharion for centuries. Contributing to the formation of impressive waterfalls, water continues its way to the sea. As we pedal along the riverbank, we find ourselves in the fertile plain of Skala Eresou, abundant with olive groves, fruit trees and vegetables around the small village houses. End at Peristeryes for a nice swim. (13,5km)
Day 5
Our route, today leads us to Parakoila, a beautiful traditional village, known for its orange groves and weaving mills. We'll follow the stone built path, meandering trough the orange trees, cross the double arched bridge and hike along the river Taxiarhis, through flower-filled meadows and green hills abundant with berries, ferns and the unique Rhododendron coloring the thick pine forest. Traditional pick-nick in Agia Dosia, prepared by the local woman's agricultural co-operative. (9km)
Day 6
Another special cruise day begins. We'll take a nice trip to Tsihlioda bay, western of Eresos. The succession of rugged cliffs and long deserted sandy beaches, the intense aquatic flora and fauna at the valley of river Meladia, the contrast between the ochre mountains and the cobalt sea, sparkling in the sun, make it hard to leave!
